Enola Holms

 

Over the decades, there have been countless tales of the infamous Sherlock Holmes and how he uses his powers of deduction in order to solve many a crime. But this tale isn't about Sherlock. 

This is about his younger sister Enola and the adventure she finds herself in. 

Without giving too much away, the film itself is set in a time where education for women was very different than it is today. A woman of that time had to go to finishing school and learn all the skills and traits associated with being a woman of a delicate and fragile nature whose sole desire in life was to marry and pop out a few sons. But this is not the dream Mrs. Holms had for her daughter.

Enola and her mother learned many things while living in solitude. Archery, reading, chess, badminton, and how to handle yourself in combat.

But on one day, Enola's mother is missing. Gone without so much as a note. Enola then sends word to her brothers and tries to persuade them to help her find whatever happened to their mother. 

But Enola is quick to find out that her brothers do not see her as someone special and talented, rather as a girl who is not fit to be a wife. So Enola sets off on her own, trying to decipher clues left behind by her mother in order to discover what might have happened and how the world for young women was slowly changing beneath her feet. 

Starring a very notable cast of actors, Enola Holms is a Netflix movie that should be on your watch list.
